Nurturing Minds Receives Third USAID Matching Grant!

Matching Grant

We are very excited to announce our third generous matching grant from USAID. This program provides assistance to schools, libraries, and medical centers outside the U.S. that serve as study and demonstration centers for American ideas and practices. This new grant of $275,000 will enable us to build a new volunteer house, purchase 50 computers and provide solar power to our new buildings. As with past USAID grants, this is a challenge grant with a 4:1 match and Nurturing Minds must raise $62,000 to meet this challenge. Volunteers, computers and solar energy are crucial to the success of our students. We have had to turn away many native English volunteers, who are  invaluable to our girls , due to a lack of housing for them on our campus. Currently, we have just 8 computers at Sega for 150 residential students! Adding 50 additional computers to our new computer lab, which will be housed in the new multi-purpose building slated to be completed this summer, will be a tremendous asset. Solar energy continues to power our campus and provide the light our girls need to study in the evening as well as our water pumps and the campus Wifi. Using renewable energy is an important part of our overall mission of having an environmentally sustainable campus.

Please consider joining us to meet this important matching challenge by making a gift to Nurturing Minds today.
