Sunday, March 7, 2021
10:00 am ET (7:00 am PT)
About the Event:
We invite you to join us on Sunday, March 7th in celebration of International Women’s Day to learn more about the SEGA Girls’ School's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) curriculum.
STEM education is particularly important for Tanzanian students, including SEGA students, for their future employment. The joblessness rate among people ages 15-24 in Tanzania is very high. Critics and employers say at the base of youth unemployment in Tanzania is a mismatch between teaching in the institutions of learning and the needs of the labor market. STEM education requires students to think deeply and critically and provides hands-on skills that are needed for employment.
About International Women's Day:
International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality.
Marked annually on March 8th, International Women's Day is one of the most important days of the year to:
celebrate women's achievements
raise awareness about women's equality
lobby for accelerated gender parity
fundraise for female-focused charities like Nurturing Minds and SEGA
