Give a Girl a Future Benefit Concert
Written by Nurturing Minds Executive Director, Laura DeDominicis.
Over the years Nurturing Minds has had wonderful teens volunteering through school groups and at our galas and fundraising events. Students have done all sorts of creative fundraisers to support the SEGA Girls School including bake sales, sewing and jewelry parties, paint parties and soup suppers.
Last weekend we were tremendously fortunate to have a group that calls themselves “Give a Girl a Future” put on a benefit concert in Montclair, NJ to support Nurturing Minds and SEGA.
While we were excited to see more teens getting involved we were completely blown away by the talent of these three young artists Molly and Sudha (who both just graduated from 8th grade yesterday!) and Ella, a college student. Not only did these young women have beautiful voices they all wrote their own original songs with Ella sharing that she plans to write a new song each day this summer!

Molly and her family, who hosted the concert at their home, visited SEGA a year ago and were able to connect with our students and have a cross-cultural exchange. Molly and some of the SEGA girls also discovered quickly that they shared another passion – soccer.
“I started Give a Girl a Future a year ago in anticipation that one day I could help woman gain equal rights and opportunities. It’s amazing that SEGA provides educational opportunities for so many girls to reach that goal.” – Molly Brumbach
We are thrilled to announce that the concert has raised over $1,000 to support SEGA! We are incredibly grateful to Give a Girl a Future for sharing their passion and talent to support girls education.
If you’d like to support Nurturing Minds and SEGA send us an email to info@nurturingmindsinafrica.org to let us know if you have another creative idea to give more SEGA students a bright future.
