Laura holds a Masters degree in International Affairs from Columbia University and has worked on economic development and conservation issues for over 20 years. From 1999-2000, she coordinated an alternative income generating project for CARE in Tanzania where she met Nurturing Minds founder Polly Dolan. She also has extensive experience fundraising for prominent causes such as homelessness in Boston and wildlife conservation issues globally. Today, she resides in Massachusetts with her family and is thrilled to assist Nurturing Minds in helping to educate young girls and give them an opportunity to advance in the future.
For 25 years, Julie has been involved with fundraising both professionally and through volunteering. She graduated from University of Colorado, Boulder and holds a B.A. in political science. She has served as vice president and president of a parent teacher organization, co-chaired a technology fundraising campaign that raised over $100,000, and developed programs to raise funds to provide shelter, education, and life skills for homeless teenage mothers near Boston. Julie is drawn to Nurturing Minds through her belief that education and having a safe place to live are essential to alleviating poverty. In her free time, Julie enjoys skiing, hiking, and travel.
